BRIT influencer “Old Dry Keith” who went viral in China for showing off his bland sandwiches has tragically died.
Social media users are mourning the death of Keith Brown whose videos became increasingly popular among the Chinese people.
The retired British engineer got his fame after his Chinese wife Zhang began posting videos of him making classic British sandwiches.
The videos featured Keith cutting whole-wheat bread for his ham and tomato sandwiches and making meals which people began to call "dry lunch".
His social media account on Douyin, China's version of TikTok, was hit with millions of fans from China who enjoyed watching him make the British staple.
Many Chinese supermarkets began stocking cold-cut sandwiches dubbed "Old Drys" after the Brit influencer's videos started to take off.
Zhou Zhiruo, a Chinese writer and cultural commentator said of his sandwiches: "We go from questioning the dry old man, to understanding the dry old man, to becoming the dry old man.
"The old man is us, and his dry lunch is our dry life. It’s the sandwich that holds everything together. Aren’t we all like Old Dry Keith."
Keith was diagnosed with bone cancer this summer, two years after becoming an internet celebrity with more than a million followers.
He died earlier this month.

The Brit had two adult children from his first marriage and a teenage son with Zhang.
After Keith passed away, Zhang told : "I was quite surprised by how popular Keith became in China.
"It's not that I didn't expect people to like him, but I wasn't prepared for how it would turn out."
