First pics of Elon Musk’s 500mph Hyperloop which could travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in just TWELVE minutes
A SUPER-FAST train that could theoretically transport passengers from London to Edinburgh in half an hour is inching closer to reality.
New pictures reveal how a test for Elon Musk's Hyperloop, which is being built in the Nevada desert, US, is shaping up.
If all goes to plan, the train will be installed in the Persian Gulf, where it is billed to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in just twelve minutes.
Elon Musk, who first put forward the Hyperloop concept in 2013, described the revolutionary transport as “a cross between a Concorde, a railgun and an air hockey table”.
It will involve passengers travelling in pods levitating inside massive tubes, surrounded by a cushion of air.
Its first test in the US is slated for May but has inked a contract with Middle East Rail.
Hyperloop One released the never-before-seen images at a conference for the train company, held in Dubai.
Rob Lloyd, CEO of Hyperloop One, shared a bird's-eye view of the construction site.
He said: "While technology is revolutionising many facets of our lives, we have not seen a radical change in transportation since the Wright brothers introduced air travel over 100 years ago.
"Tying together the Middle East region would produce greater virtual density, without congestion and pollution, spurring innovation, productivity, job growth and more powerful sharing of knowledge, labour and investment.
"Building a Hyperloop would vastly impact the economy and make any major city in the GCC accessible within one hour."
Meanwhile in the UK, rail bosses are considering whether to install Europe's fastest hover train which could take commuters from Liverpool to Manchester in SEVEN minutes.
