Dad, twin sons and their brother found dead inside house – as cops referred to watchdog over ‘previous contact’

Cops do not believe anyone else was involved

A DAD and his three young children, including two twins, have been found dead inside a house in Surrey.

Piotr Świderski - believed to be a Polish national - was found dead with his three boys, all under the age of four, at a property in Bremer Road, Staines, yesterday.

The police have been referred to a watchdog over “previous contact”.

The grim discovery at the two-bedroom semi-detached house was made by an ambulance crew shortly after 1pm, with cops then called to the scene.

Surrey Police say the incident was isolated and are not currently looking for anyone else involved.

Several mourners have left tributes outside the house, with officers currently on guard outside.

Forensic officers are also collecting evidence.

Vincenzo Alba, 37, who lives opposite the semi-detached house where the victims were found, saw the bodies being removed on Saturday evening. 

He told The Sun: “My fiancée had seen the dad around several times - he was a polish man with three kids...

“It’s been a massive shock for all of our neighbours. It’s scary when something like this happens on your doorstep, especially when kids are involved.”

Another neighbour said: "I knew the guy... he had two very young twin boys and a slightly older son."

The driving instructor, 55, added: “The kids were always laughing and happy."

A third local said: “This is like the quintessential quiet town - you’d never expect it. It’s just a normal house in a pretty normal street in a really boring place.

“Nothing happens round here - it’s a quiet little neighbourhood.”

This afternoon, an Amazon package was dropped off outside the house.

It appeared to be a children's lunchbox with doodles on it.

The delivery man placed it by the flowers but one of three police officers said: "I think you should take that back."

A police spokesman said this afternoon: "We were called yesterday afternoon (31 August) at around 1.15pm by South-East Coast Ambulance service to a property in Bremer Road, Spelthorne, where officers found the bodies of three children and a man.

"A thorough investigation is being carried out to establish the circumstances of their deaths and at this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident with no third-party involvement.

"We can now confirm that the children and man involved were all related and the three children were all under the age of 4. Postmortems and formal identification will take place in due course.

"Their mother and next of kin are aware and being supported by specialist officers. We request their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time."

They added: “Surrey Police have also completed a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous police contact with those involved.”

An IOPC spokesperson said: “We were notified by Surrey Police on Saturday (31 August) about the tragic incident in Spelthorne.

"We will be assessing a referral from the force to decide whether any action is required by the IOPC.”

Chief Inspector Lucy Sanders said: "This is a tragic loss of life in our community and we are working to establish exactly what has occurred. 

"There is currently a significant police presence at the location, and in the surrounding area.

"We would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding whilst we conduct our investigation."

DCI Gareth Hicks who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a truly tragic incident and a thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.

"We would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding whilst we have been conducting our enquiries.

"We can also now update that whilst Bremer Road was closed for a significant amount of time yesterday, it has now fully re-opened and there will continue to be a police presence in the area for the foreseeable."
