Keir’s Mil-stone
IT seems like only yesterday Ed Miliband was promising to slash our energy bills.
Except in October they will surge.
And that will hurt ten million pensioners stripped of their winter fuel allowance to pay the unions.
The Energy Secretary’s response was bizarre.
It was “deeply worrying”, Miliband admitted, as if powerless to help.
He even blamed the Tories for leaving us “at the mercy of international gas markets controlled by dictators”.

In fact almost all our gas comes from Norway, the US and the North Sea, where Miliband has banned new exploration.
His alternative vision is “clean power by 2030” via more solar and wind — which all sane energy and economic experts consider a ruinous fantasy.
Because without a huge increase in nuclear by then, only gas can power Britain when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.
Where will Miliband source that, if not the same international gas markets?

Rising bills will terrify many people, not just pensioners.
Some will now have to choose between heating and eating.
And they will not be comforted by a Labour minister, driven by ideology, meddling in our energy mix and claiming in defiance of experts that it will magically cut prices in the end.
We applaud Keir Starmer’s desire to bring about change.
But getting our energy supply right for the future is not just crucial, it is existential.
Does the PM never wonder if Miliband has a clue what he’s doing?
Joke wokery
WHAT universe do Leeds University’s woke language police inhabit?
Their clampdown on students saying “mum” or “dad” probably plays well with other loons on social media.
In the real world they are a laughing stock.
So often wokery is about protecting from presumed offence people who will not remotely be offended anyway.
No one wants biological parents erased in favour of gender-neutral “guardians”.
OAPs do not suffer “discomfort or offence” at being called elderly.
Still, on one measure these uni chiefs have succeeded in helping create “a more equal and fairer society”.
Their students are mocking them with equal enthusiasm . . . and fairly.

WHAT a grim election choice the US faces even with doddering Joe Biden gone.
His replacement aims to become leader of the free world by projecting “joy”.
Kamala Harris’s vacuous, smiley “vibes” have gone down a treat with the biased BBC.
How they will play with millions of Americans worried about jobs, prices and taxes is anyone’s guess.
If she had any actual ideas for them we’d surely know already.

And it’s Kamala . . . or Trump.
God help America.
