LEVI Bellfield's ex has cast doubt on the monster's claims he murdered Lin and Megan Russell in a bombshell new documentary.
The serial killer claimed responsibility over the fatal 1996 hammer attack on the mum and daughter from his prison cell last year.
He later retracted the so-called confession to the murders, which Michael Stone is currently serving a life sentence for.
His ex Johanna Collings has now claimed Bellfield couldn't be behind the horror as he spent the day celebrating her birthday with her.
She told Serial Killer, Serial Liar: Levi Bellfield - A Faking It Special on on : "They were killed on the 9th of July 1996 and that date is my birthday.
"And on the 9th of July 1996, we spent the whole day together from when we got up to when we went to bed that night. He never left my side.

"There is absolutely no way Levi could have killed Lin and Megan Russell. Levi's lying, you know. It's all about control."
Johanna was in an abusive three-year relationship with Bellfield and shares two children with the monster.
He is currently serving two whole life terms for the murders of Marsha McDonnell, Amelie Delagrange and schoolgirl Milly Dowler.

Megan's older sister Josie, who was nine at the time, survived the horror.
It was previously announced there would be a review of murderer Michael Stone's convictions - despite Bellfield's retraction.
Forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes has told the documentary how he is “getting his kicks” by confessing to murders he was not responsible for.
She added: "Bellfield is just playing games. He really is. I would take everything that he says with a big, big grain of salt.
"But this is what we would call ‘offence paralleling behaviour’. He has got no possibility of ever being released, so he's not able to offend.
"So what does he do for kicks instead? And I think that this is him involving himself in possibly the fantasy of having committed more crimes.”
The documentary also reveals how there are "inconsistencies" in Bellfield's confession.
He claimed he was wearing "bright yellow marigold washing up gloves and holding a hammer in my right hand".
But as linguistics expert Professor Dawn Archer points out, Bellfield is left-handed.
She explains: "Why would he want to attack someone using his non-dominant hand? Does he have to do that because he has to fit with what’s known about the crime?”
The Sun revealed in October how Bellfield boasted he made up the false confession for "cash and fun".
It was also claimed the false version did not tally with what survivor Josie told police at the time.
Heroin addict Stone pleaded not guilty to the murders in 1997 but was later convicted despite there being no forensic evidence.

He appealed in 2001 but was found guilty for a second time.
In July, the latest criminal case review said there was no real possibility of the conviction being quashed - despite Stone continuing to protest his innocence.
