Five have been charged with rape and other three have been charged with sexual assault, according to newspaper Diario de Mallorca.

They also face a number of other charges - including mistreatment and privacy crimes relating to the publication of videos from their phones.

The group are alleged to have stripped the 18-year-old naked, spat on her, insulted her, and whipped the victim, the paper claimed citing court documents.

The suspects are also alleged to have filmed the 30-minute attack on their phones and posted it to social media.

A judge found evidence suggesting one of the suspects filmed 14 videos lasting 170 seconds, and another filming five videos lasting 142 seconds, according to Diario de Mallorca.

The eight men are all being held on remand in prison in Majorca or on the Spanish mainland - and expected to remain behind bars until trial.

The accused were pictured being hauled into court in handcuffs in Majorcan capital of Palma last year.

Six of the suspects, five Frenchmen and a Swiss national aged 18 to 26, were taken into custody in Majorca shortly after the alleged rape.

Spanish police previously said the suspects were not all part of the same friend group, but some had joined in "encouraged by other participants".

Reports at the time said three of the suspects met the British teenager hours earlier while partying in Magaluf.

One of the men allegedly went out into a hotel corridor after the attack and invited strangers to have “free sex” with the semi-conscious woman.

The first of the suspects was held after Spanish cops tricked him into answering the "stolen" mobile phone of the Brit teenager.

The French youngster picked up the phone and then went with two holiday pals to the lobby of the hotel where the sex attack allegedly took place, Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora reported.

They were unaware they would be met by the teen and detectives.

Another two were later held in France on a European Arrest Warrant issued by a Spanish judge and extradited.

The Sun previously spoke to the staff member who found the girl crying in the lobby of the BH Mallorca Hotel, only 400m from Magaluf's party strip.

He said: ";I came in for the morning shift and found her downstairs, she was so upset. It was awful."

The hero worker immediately alerted the cops who came within five minutes.

After the incident, the BH Mallorca Resort said it was cooperating fully with the authorities and offered its support to the unnamed holidaymaker.

A spokesman said in a statement at the time: “The BH Mallorca Resort deeply regrets what has happened and would like to manifest its firm and forceful repudiation of the alleged sexual attack.

“The hotel also wants to demonstrate its solidarity with the alleged victim of this aggression.

“We are co-operating fully with the Civil Guard and its investigators in everything they consider to be necessary.

“This hotel ratifies through this statement its commitment to the condemnation of all types of sexual attacks that affect peoples’ dignity and physical integrity.

“Behaviour that undermines those rights has no place in this establishment.”

No date for the men’s trial has yet been set.
