THE mum of murdered Katie Rough has revealed how she plans to have the little girl's ashes tattooed onto her skin in a lasting tribute to the seven-year-old.
Alison Rough shared pictures of two new tattoos in tribute to little Katie, who died after being slashed in the throat in a horrific attack while walking home from school in January.
Katie was found fatally wounded in a field near her home in Woodthorpe, York, on January 9 and a 15-year-old girl has been charged with her murder.
Devastated mum Alison, 38, shared a picture of a new tattoo on her collarbone featuring a red heart and a hospital heart monitor flat-lining into the words "Katie".
Posting the picture on Facebook, she wrote: "My new tattoo, it will be filled with katies ashes in the heart when we have them."
She also shared a picture of a new tattoo on her right wrist which simply reads "Team Rough" in elegant black handwriting.
Supportive pals commented on the photo writing "#teamrough forever" and "#teamrough always".
Alison previously shared pictures of a Dr Seuss-inspired tattoo tribute to Katie featuring a quote from the 1959 book Happy Birthday To You!
Katie's death caused shock waves through her community, with the little girl having been a bridesmaid at her parents' wedding just two weeks before her death.
An inquest into her death has now been adjourned, pending the outcome of the court proceedings, and her funeral took place at York Minster two weeks ago as family and friends gathered to see her laid to rest in a colourful Dr Seuss-themed coffin.
Since her death, Katie's distraught mother has said “life will never be the same” after changing her Facebook profile photo to two wrists with tattooed tributes to the tragic seven-year-old.
The family of the little girl released a poignant video tribute to Katie, with her mother writing: "I wish I could have her back".
