The 8,000-person crowd at the rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, cheered as Trump described the challenge.

"I said I will take you to any course you want...I would give you $1 million if you could break 100 in a game of golf," Trump proclaimed.

"He turned me down."

Ever the one for competition, the real estate mogul alleged he even adjusted the offer.

"Then I said, I'll give you ten strokes a side...I'll give you one million dollars if you could beat me. He had no chance," Trump said.

"They talk a good game, but it's all talk."

Trump's rally in Minnesota lasted over an hour and a half, as he touched upon his plans for the economy, law enforcement, and military.

The rally in St. Cloud was initially planned when Biden was still running for office, as Trump lost the state to him in the 2020 election.

However, with Biden out of the race, the former president made sure to acknowledge the president's replacement, Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris' potential running mates

Kamala Harris accepted Joe Biden's endorsed for the Democratic presidential nomination after the president ended his reelection bid on July 21

Harris said she plans to earn and win the nomination while uniting the party.

Who are Kamala Harris' potential running mates?

  • Pete Buttigieg: US Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg ran for president during the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, competing against both Kamala Harris and .
  • He was widely regarded as a breakout star, becoming the first openly gay candidate to win a presidential primary or caucus when he narrowly won the Iowa caucus during the 2020 primaries.
  • Buttigieg was one of the first Democrats to formally endorse Kamala Harris after President Biden.
  • In his statement, Buttigieg said Harris was "the right person to take up the torch, defeat Donald Trump, and succeed Joe Biden as President."
  • Andy Beshear: Governor Beshear has created a successful career in the heavily Republican state of .
  • The 46-year-old two-term governor fully endorsed Harris for president and said he would consider being her running mate.
  • Roy Cooper: Democrats have praised Governor Cooper for his history of defeating Republicans in the battleground state that voted for as president in 2016 and 2020.
  • Cooper has fully endorsed Harris as the next president.
  • The governor has previously stated that he and Harris, who both served as attorney generals of their states, have a really good relationship.
  • Gretchen Whitmer: Governor Whitmer has been viewed as a rising star in the Democratic Party.
  • In 2020, the two-term governor caught the eye of Joe Biden as a possible running mate before he ultimately selected Harris.
  • Whitmer joined the growing list of Democrats who have backed Harris for president.
  • A Harris-Whitmer campaign would be the first-all woman ticket for a US political party.
  • Gavin Newsom: Prominent California Governor Newsom's name has long been linked to a potential presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
  • has already backed Harris for president, saying, "No one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump's dark vision."
  • But there may be a problem if Harris and Newsom are on the same ticket.
  • Both Newsom and Harris hail from , and under the 12th Amendment of the Constitution, both members of a presidential ticket shall "not be an inhabitant of the same state."
  • If Harris were to pick Newsom as her running mate, they would forfeit all of California's 54 Electoral College votes.

"She has no clue, she's evil," Trump said, commenting on Harris' border patrol tasks as vice president.

"Kamala Harris' deadly destruction of America's borders is completely and totally disqualifying for her to be president."

FORE-SHADOWING

Trump's alleged golf challenge to President Biden dates back to the first presidential debate between the two on June 27.

During the hectic debate, which served as a tipping point for the Democratic party to push for a new presidential candidate, the pair got off-topic as they began talking about their athletic abilities.

What happens next as Joe Biden drops out of the 2024 race?

President Biden has finally heeded calls to drop his bid for re-election, throwing the 2024 election into chaos. He has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris but naming a new Democratic nominee won't be a simple process. Here's what's next after Biden's stunning announcement.

Biden secured nearly 4,000 delegates by winning state caucuses and primaries earlier this year. He was set to officially be named the Democratic nominee at a virtual vote ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which begins on August 19.

Democratic party rules don't allow Biden to simply pass his 3,896 delegates to Harris or another candidate.

Harris will now have to convince those nearly 4,000 delegates and 700 superdelegates to support her and name her nominee.

However, delegates are free agents who can choose to support whichever candidate they want - likely without input from voters at this stage since primaries and caucuses were already held.

All eyes are now on the previously planned virtual vote - where the Democratic party could choose a nominee before the DNC begins.

Biden's endorsement of Harris will likely sway delegates and no one has publicly challenged her as a candidate - but delegates are not required to back her. Even if the virtual vote isn't held, the party could still choose Harris or another candidate before the convention.

If Democrats don't name their nominee before the DNC, it'll be the first open and contested convention since 1968.

The now Internet viral debate began when the moderator asked Trump about his fitness, as he would be 82 years old by the time he finished serving his second term.

The golf enthusiast said he is in "very good shape" and boasted about recently winning two golf championships.

Joe Biden’s official golf handicap as Donald Trump mocks president over swing leaving debate viewers baffled

“To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way,” Trump noted.

As Trump bragged about his golfing skills, Biden muttered "He can't hit a ball 50 yards."

That comment bled into a lengthy debate about who plays a better golf game.

"I got my handicap when I was vice president, down to six," Biden said.

"I'm happy to play golf if you carry your own bag," the president continued.

"Think you can do it?"

Trump argued that Biden's claim of having a six handicap was "the biggest lie of all time."

"I've seen your swing. I know your swing," Trump continued.

The heated golf debate died down as the GOP's presidential candidate said, "Let's not act like children."
