There is room for 60 of these tasters, with only one in four people apparently born with the ability to be a Supertaster.

The job requires commitment to snacking, and a serious understanding of palate maintenance.

As a bonus, successful applicants will be paid £8.51 an hour for their troubles.

The people who are perfect for the job should be able to identify the basic tastes - sweet, sour, bitter, salt and umami.

As part of the tasting process they will be asked to objectively describe the products on taste, smell and feel.

Tasters need to be a non-smoker and should be available for a maximum of eight hours a week Monday to Thursday.

Krystina Mason, who has worked with PepsiCo for six years, : "On a day-to-day basis we have to make sure our palates are clean – I like to drink lemon water.

"We are not allowed to drink tea or coffee because it will interfere with the palate.

"We have to have 20 minute breaks between tests, where we will eat fruit so we know our taste buds are cleansed.

"My husband laughs at me because I go to particular lengths not to make spicy foods."

Tasters are expected to be adept at describing the food they are testing in detail.

And due to the potential for high salt intake that this role could bring, each tester's portions are controlled.

To have a go at getting the role.

Earlier this year Cadbury and Oreo opened up a mouth-watering job opportunity for a “professional taster” to give feedback on their products.

Mondelez, who own the iconic chocolate and biscuits brands, were looking for someone with a “taste buds for detection” to take on the role.

The job advert, which didn't specify a salary, asked for candidates with a “passion for confectionery”.
