Covid carping
WHAT a surprise. The wicked Tories have copped the blame from that bloated legal jamboree, the Covid Inquiry.
Successive Health Secretaries, it finds, left us unprepared for a once-in-a-century pandemic linked to bats.
Except their only real fault was in swallowing complacent assurances from health “experts” advising them. The inquiry does at least blame them too.
Public Health England told the nation in February 2020 that “the UK’s infection control procedures are world-leading” and they had a “belt and braces approach . . . to ensure we have the best possible intelligence to protect the public”.
Should the Tories have called them liars?
Anyway, it now falls to Labour to allocate precious resources they don’t have to a new plague that might not happen.

Just stopped
CULT leader Roger Hallam is a sinister public menace who richly deserves his five-year jail stretch.
And we applaud Judge Christopher Hehir who, unlike others, would not buckle to the facile eco propaganda of Hallam’s Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil and their celebrity fans.
Britain has led the global charge to decarbonise. But Hallam and his dupes think their hysterical misinterpretations of climate science give them a free pass to “protest” by causing hardship to people innocently going to work, to school, to hospital or to a funeral.

Their “demands” are irrelevant. Indeed banning new North Sea oil and gas is now Government policy. What matters is that their plot to cripple the M25 was reckless, callous and illegal.
The judge told Hallam and four other idiots they “crossed the line from concerned campaigner to fanatic, heedless of the rights of fellow citizens”. Quite so.
The Sun is proud to have exposed them.
Dozy bankers
WHY is the Bank of England taking so long to cut interest rates?
Inflation has been back at its two per cent target for two months. Pay growth is at its slowest in nearly two years.
Economists urged the Bank months ago to ease mortgage misery for millions.
Its sloth is hurting families’ finances and crushing growth.
Lam in a stew
LABOUR’S David Lammy shredded his credibility years ago with foolish Twitter abuse about Brexit and Donald Trump.

But while the new Foreign Secretary justifiably squirms now, we’re not sure a re-elected Trump would much care.
His potential Vice President once called him “America’s Hitler”.
