Kate McCann offers support to missing persons charity just hours after top cop claims new theory to Madeleine’s disappearance
BIG-HEARTED Kate McCann has put aside her own anguish over snatched daughter Madeleine to help a pal raise money for charity.
At a time when two ex cops have continued to heap more misery on her family, she has spared time to consider other missing children and adults.
The brave mum today urges supporters on an official Find Maddie Facebook page to sponsor her fellow keen runner friend Matt Curtis on behalf of a vital cause, proving she can fight for and not just fight against.
In a rare personal posting on the campaign website, she pleads: “Can you help us support the charity Missing people?”
Kate adds: “A friend of mine, Matt, has volunteered to run the London Marathon in April this year to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Missing People.”
Sports-mad Kate says: “Even for keen runners, training for a marathon requires a lot to time, effort and commitment – and raising money can sometimes be an even bigger challenge!”
The former GP’s efforts to assist others comes as she and heart doctor husband Gerry are locked into a renewed testing and trying libel fight against retired Portuguese detective Goncalo Amaral.

Williams-Thomas revealed his theory about what happened the night Maddie went missing when he appeared on ITV’s This Morning programme yesterday.
The TV detective said he believes Maddie went looking for her mum and dad, knowing they were in the resort’s tapas bar that night.
He said: "I think Maddie was aware they were in the tapas bar in the resort. In order to get to the bar you have to come out of the premises, walk on a public road and go back in again.
“The concern I have, I believe she woke up and went looking for them, she left the apartment and came out, we already know the patio door was insecure.”
