The stop was filmed by a neighbour and the footage has since sparked outrage.

In it cops ask for Mr Adumbi's name, but he refuses and tries to enter his home with the officers unaware he works to smooth relations between cops and the local black community.

After discharging the weapon, the officer who shot can be heard saying: "Taser, Taser... you've been Tasered."

In worrying scenes, Mr Adumbi is seen falling right to the ground.

Mr Abunbi is one of the Independent Advisory Group founders, which was set up by the police with the ethnic minority community in Bristol.

Police bosses have since admitted to the local community in Easton, that they "have concerns" about how the incident unfolded.

The IPCC has launched a formal investigation, following a complaint from a member of the public.

Two officers have since been served with gross misconduct notices advising them that their conduct is under investigation.

IPCC Commissioner Cindy Butts said: “The incident in which Mr Adunbi was Tasered has attracted significant community concern and I am grateful to the representatives for their attendance last week and their honest and frank contributions.

“We would reassure them that we are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“The investigation is making positive progress and we are continuing to review evidence regarding the appropriateness of Taser use in the circumstances.

“As our investigation is ongoing the IPCC is limited in what can be released into the public domain, and we would ask for patience while our work is carried out.”

Mr Adunbi is being updated on the investigation throughout.
