FORENSIC officers have been scouring a Scots seaside park this afternoon after a female was assaulted overnight.
The incident happened sometime between midnight and 2am this morning in Stranraer.
Specialist officers have been seen sweeping an area inside Agnew Park after the alarm was raised.
A section of the park was sealed off overnight with blue tape locking down the area.
Several officers were also spotted at the site this morning.
A heavy police presence has remained in the area with the public unable to access a section of the park.
Around a dozen forensic officers in white hazmat suits combed the area.
The age of the woman who has been assaulted is currently unknown.
The nature of the assault is also currently unknown.
Police have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the incident.

They added that enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquires are ongoing after police received a report of an assault of a female in Agnew Park, Stranraer.
"The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 2am on Sunday, 14 July 2024.
"Officers remain in the area and enquiries are ongoing."
