Murder probe launched after pensioner, 70, dies following ‘altercation’ at care home as cops arrest man, 63, over death
An unannounced visit by inspectors in June found 'not all risks had been assessed' to keep residents safe
A FIGHT inside a "struggling" care home has sparked a murder investigation after a 70-year-old resident died.
The victim was attacked by a 63-year-old man at Regent House in Clacton, Essex on February 10.
He died from his injuries two days later.
The alleged attacker has now been arrested on suspicion of murder, but not yet been named by police.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at an address in Wellesley Road, Clacton.

"A 63-year-old man from Clacton was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail until May 15. Enquiries are ongoing."
It is understood the dead man was a resident at the unit which homes up to 23 people with mental and emotional health needs.
The home was subject to a critical Care Quality Commission report last year which revealed the service provided was not always safe.
According to inspectors, who carried out an unannounced visited in June, there were systems in place to minimise risks to people and keep them safe
but “not all risks had been assessed”.
Some staff had not had any recent training and lacked awareness of what the Mental Capacity Act meant for people.
Care Quality Commission report
Inspectors graded the home as "requiring improvement" in their report published on August 17, 2016.
According to the overall summary inspectors found: "People were not always supported in accordance with the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and
the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
"Some staff had not had any recent training and lacked awareness of what the Mental Capacity Act meant for people.”
The 63-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder has since been bailed whilst officers continue enquiries.
He is due to return to a police station later this year.
