Dangerous stalker wanted by police taunts chasing officers in brazen social media message
A DANGEROUS stalker wanted by police has taunted chasing officers in a brazen social media message.
Jailbird Michael Davidson, 39, vanished from Alness, Easter Ross, earlier this week, prompting Police Scotland to issue an appeal for him to hand himself in.
The public were warned not to approach Davidson, who was jailed for three years in 2013 for stalking his ex while again on the run for police.
But sinister Davidson, who was recently convicted of sending an indecent image at the High Court in Inverness, commented on the missing person appeal and laughed at cops’ attempts to find him.
He wrote: "Well I’m hardly missing when I’m currently driving my car, people and their comments crack me up", with laughing emojis attached.
A pal added: "Give them a run for their money lad."
Cops said Davidson, also known as Michael Gallacher, is 5ft 10 inches, of slight build, with dark brown hair and speaks with a local accent.
Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “We want to trace Mr Davidson as quickly as possible, and I would ask anyone with information to please contact Police Scotland.
“I would ask the public not to approach Mr Davidson if you believe you have seen him, and instead call Police Scotland as soon as possible.
“We are also appealing to Mr Davidson himself to get in touch with the police."
In 2013, Tain Sheriff Court heard Davidson bombarded his former partner with 300 phone calls and text messages after he leaped from a courthouse window to avoid being remanded for harassing the terrified woman.
Even during a dramatic nine-hour police siege of a country mansion in the Highlands which ended Davidson’s two weeks on the run, he kept calling the woman.
Davidson escaped through a second-floor window of Tain Sheriff Court after an interview with his solicitor and holed up at addresses at Wick, Alness and Invergordon.
He was tracked to Dalmore House near Alness, and spent nine hours on its roof before police negotiators eventually talked him down.
As well as stalking, he also admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice by escaping and was jailed for a further 21 months.
Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist said Davidson’s behaviour towards his victim, a mother-of-three, was “deplorable”.
He added: “It seems clear that one of the purposes behind your escape was to continue to stalk your victim.
“It is quite deplorable that you were assisted by friends and other associates in remaining at large.”
In 2022, Davidson was found guilty of sending indecent image at High Court in Inverness, although the jury deleted the suggestion that the offence was carried out for the purposes of sexual gratification.

He had faced other more serious sex offences but a jury found four other charges not proven by a majority.
Davidson sobbed in the dock before the verdicts were delivered and clasped his hands in prayer-like fashion when he was acquitted of most of the charges against him.
