The video starts off with two women talking about the sea lion from afar, and its likeness to the surrounding grey rocks.

"It looks like a rock, it's so big! Get out of the water fat***," they joked.

Taunting beachgoers were then left terrified as the animal then hauled its way up onto the sand - almost meeting a little girl head on.

The massive sea lion, whose height exceeded some of the people in the one-minute-long video, growled as it asserted its dominance.

It is thought the sea lion may be female, explaining her territorial nature when it comes to guarding the pups.

The fuming animal got up after swimming a few lengths and violently stormed towards other swimmers to intimidate them.

Petrified, they raced across the perfectly blue shore in panic, to escape the wrath of the beast, watching the horror unfold from the sand.

One little girl wearing a dark blue swimsuit was particularly thrown off - with a man presumed to be her dad, calling her to safety as people screamed "Get out of the water!" in the distance.

Others stood to video the frightening scenes which took place on June 23, but the clip showed no injuries as the sea lion swam off.

It then tore out the beast's throat in an instant as they thrashed on the water's surface.

The epic moment was captured by Lori Hespe, who was on a whale-watching tour.

She told : "I have never seen anything like this before in my life. I was absolutely shocked and astounded.

"The attack carried on for approximately three minutes in total before it came to its brutal end.
