Labour farce as they reveal plans to use anti-Brexit, pro-immigration big wigs Clive Lewis and Diane Abbott to win back voters from UKIP – starting on April 1
In plans that triggered outright mockery in Westminster, the two will form part of a touring group of Labour big-hitters
LABOUR descended into farce after it revealed plans to use anti-Brexit Clive Lewis and pro-immigration Diane Abbott to spearhead a drive to win back UKIP voters.
In plans that triggered outright mockery in Westminster, the two will form part of a touring group of Labour big-hitters that will go to UKIP heartlands.
The ‘Take Back Control’ tour begins on April 1 – April Fools Day.
Clive Lewis quit the Labour Shadow Cabinet after refusing to back Theresa May’s Article 50 bill in the Commons last week.
And Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott last year appeared to label Brexit voters “racist” and has repeatedly defended open borders.
The campaign is being organised by an offshoot of Momentum, Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign group.
It will also include Rachael Maskell, who also resigned to vote against the Brexit Bill, and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell.
The tour starts in Sunderland on April 1, before heading to Barnsley, Croydon, Plymouth, Bradford, Hastings, Hackney, Norfolk, York and Dagenham.
One Labour MP last night said: “It’s funny that the tour starts on April 1. But the idea that these jokers can win over Brexit Britain is one gag too far.”
Tory backbencher Jacob Rees Mogg said: “They have made it so clear they no longer have any sympathy for Labour voters who turn to UKIP.
“They have already indicated their contempt for Brexit votes and this is pouring more scorn on them.”
