Who is Rustie Lee?
Born in Jamaica on May 22, 1949, Rustie Lee is best known for appearing in reality shows and working as a TV chef.
She also had a brief run as a candidate for UKIP in 2005, but flunked in the general election, coming fifth in her constituency.
Rustie has released several cookbooks during her time in the spotlight, including one dedicated to recipes from her Jamaican roots.
Rustie first shot to fame during the 1980s on ITV's breakfast show TV-am.
Following her success on TV-am, she took over from Sarah Kennedy on the second incarnation of the ITV gameshow Game for a Laugh.
Is Rustie Lee married?
Not much is known about Rustie's personal life as she prefers to keep such information out of the public spotlight.
She is married to Andreas Hohmann — but when and where their wedding was is not publicly available.
The couple has one son together, who is named James.
What has Rustie Lee starred in?
Rustie has appeared on a number of TV shows as an actress, chef or guest.
She has regularly featured on ITV's This Morning since 2012, where she hosts the cooking segment.
Rustie started her career as a cookery expert on Good Morning Britain back in 1983 — staying on the show until 1991.
Her acting credits include Aunt Opal in Eastenders, and she also appeared in ITV's Benidorm.
As for her reality TV credentials, Rustie has featured on The Real Marigold Hotel, Big Brother 2013 and Celebrity Super Spa.
She appeared in Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor in 2008.
The multi-talented star has narrated children's stories for BBC Radio in Birmingham, too.
Rustie has also had a singing career, releasing the album Invitation to Party back in 1985.
She also released the single You'd Better Phone in 1994.
Is Rustie Lee bankrupt?
In March 2023, The Sun revealed the popular celebrity had been declared bankrupt after lawyers spent nearly a decade chasing her over a £75,000 debt.
Investigators found she withdrew money from a company she ran with her husband shortly before it went bust in 2013.
Proceedings concluded at Brighton crown court in February 2023 with her being made bankrupt.
Her husband Andreas Hohmann also faced proceedings for a similar amount.
A source said: “Her assets can be sold to raise the money, but we are led to believe she doesn’t have any.”
When will Rustie Lee be a guest on Comic Relief 2024?
Rustie is appearing on Comic Relief: Funny for Money on Friday March 15, 2024.
The show airs live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer between 7pm and 10pm, when it switches over to BBC Two.
The broadcast will then return to BBC One at 10.40pm to pay tribute to Comic Relief co-founder Sir Lenny Henry — who is making his final appearance as a host after 39 years of money-raising for the charity.
