Shocking moment screaming mum & girl find HUGE rat crawled up into their loo

The mum revealed that she had to trap the huge rodent inside the toilet as it tried to escape

A MUM told how she was awoken by her daughter’s screams after a huge rat popped up in their loo.

The woman was about to sit on the toilet after a 14-hour hospital shift when she heard something scuttling below.

She then recoiled in shock as she spotted the rodent peering up from the bowl.

Her horrified mother, who asked not to be named, told The Scottish Sun: “When she looked down she saw two little beady eyes. She was screaming.

“I couldn’t believe it.”

The pair, of Govanhill, Glasgow, then tried frantically to keep the lid down as the furry pest battled to escape.

She said: “We tried to shut the toilet pan. It was jumping up and trying to get out.

"I had to get a broom and was screaming my lungs out.

That could have bit one of my kids’ a***s. They would have been sitting there none the wiser. It was massive!

The stunned mum

“My neighbours must have thought somebody was killing me.”

They placed bricks on the lid to try to keep it secure but say the critter kept rattling around underneath like a “Tasmanian devil”.

"I was screaming at him not to, saying it’s too big to flush and it’ll get stuck in the drain and float back up again.”

The worker eventually got the rat out of the toilet and into the street where the resident claimed he used a tool to kill it.

Glasgow City Council said “appropriate action” was taken.

A spokesman said such cases were uncommon but explained that blocked drains can help the pests get access.

He said: “It is in the interests of householders to ensure domestic drainage systems are maintained regularly.”
