that "everyone loved" Irfan.

"He was a funny guy. He'd always find a minutes to talk to you. He was there for everyone," he added.

Friends and family took to social media to pay tribute to the teen.

Iffy was described as a "good lad" with a "bright future", and a pupil at his school, Carr Manor Community School, wrote: "Rest In Peace brother man is going to miss you like mad."

Police say the stabbing happened “in a busy area at a busy time” and are urging witnesses to come forward.

Officers believe the incident was recorded on mobile phones and are appealing for those with the footage to come forward.

A statement from West Yorkshire Police read: “Officers were called to Harehills Lane at 3.42pm. The injured male was taken to hospital but died a short time later.”

Detective Superintendent Pat Twiggs is leading the investigation and is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the force by calling 101.

He said: "This tragic incident happened in a busy area at a busy time of day with large numbers of people going about their daily business.

“I am appealing directly to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help our enquiries to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed anyone running in the area to come forward.

“It is also possible that people may have recorded footage on their mobile phones and I would again encourage those people to come forward.”

The large police cordon remains in the Harehills Lane area of the city and forensic examinations are likely to continue over the next couple of days.

Anyone with information should ring the police on 101 regarding log 1017 of February 10, or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

And the parents of a teen have been accused of trying to proposition her friends on Snapchat by asking them to join them for romps in exchange for cash.
