Brexit will mean nothing unless the UK’s Border Force begins to buck its ideas up
We’ve got enough of a problem with homegrown would-be terrorists without making it so easy for the rest of the world to come here too
Wide open
IT’S all very well voting to take back control of our borders through Brexit — but unless the Border Force bucks up its ideas we may as well stick up a sign saying “Everyone welcome”.
It beggars belief that an Albanian murderer who was extradited after a long, costly court battle can simply waltz back into the country a few years later.
Selami Cokaj may even have given his real name only for no one to bother checking his record.
However he got in, the case exposes yet again how vulnerable we are.
We’ve got enough of a problem with homegrown would-be terrorists without making it so easy for the rest of the world to come here too.
Shiner whiner
AFTER taking a peerage as reward for her antisemitism probe whitewash, Shami Chakrabarti is viewed as an embarrassment even by her fellow Labour peers.
But her defence of bent lawyer Phil Shiner as a good man who “lost his way” is simply sickening.
Shiner deliberately put brave soldiers through hell, for no other reason than enriching himself at public expense.
He was a hero to Baroness Chakrabarti and her chums until he was exposed as a liar.
That she still thinks Shiner should be lauded speaks volumes about the warped mindset of the modern Left.
Price driven up
FUEL giants clearly view diesel drivers as cash cows ripe for the milking.
Examine the evidence: diesel has been 2p more expensive than unleaded petrol over the past two years, despite being almost the same wholesale price — and costing less to refine.
That works out at a billion pounds ripped off from diesel drivers.
If Theresa May wants to do something that will really help hard-working families, she’ll back the call for a “Pump Watch” fuel price regulator.
Oh dear John
A SPEAKER of the House of Commons is nothing if they are not respected.
And John Bercow seems to be going out of his way to prove the point.
He stopped any mention in the Commons of the police investigation into his mate Keith Vaz.
He behaved like a loudmouth activist when he attacked President Trump.
Does he understand that as Speaker he’s supposed to be impartial?
