Fed-up welder divorces his missus because she’s ‘addicted’ to Candy Crush and popular game ‘forced them apart’
Darren Thorpe said he 'had no relationship at all' with Lesley
A FED-UP welder divorced his missus because she was always playing Candy Crush.
Darren Thorpe, 50, said he had “no relationship at all” with Lesley, 54, due to her phone fixation.
He said: “My wife spent all her free time playing games on her mobile phone. When I tried to talk to her about this, she refused to discuss it.
“It came to the point where we didn’t speak.”
The pair met in 2002 and married in 2014. But things soured when Lesley spent her days trawling Facebook and playing Candy Crush.
Darren walked out of their Burnley home in late 2015 after a holiday to Portugal failed to save their marriage.
Their divorce was finalised last month, with the judge saying Lesley’s behaviour meant Darren could no longer be expected to live with her.

Devastated Lesley said: “He said I didn’t love him any more.
“Our phones forced us apart. I admit I enjoyed playing Candy Crush.
“But Darren was on his phone as much as me. We were together but living separate lives.
"Before we had the internet on our mobiles we had a great relationship.
“We spent more and more time on them. I played games, posted photos and chatted on Facebook. Soon the phones came between us.
“Even if we went out for dinner, the phones would be constantly pinging with messages. We’d be reading our phones rather than talking together.
“If it wasn’t for the phones and Facebook we’d still be married.”
Darren has since moved to Holland and is in a new relationship.
