The 34-year-old mum had earlier been seen staggering around an arcade in the park on the last night of the family's trip and had to be helped back to the caravan by staff.

She was left with her 37-year-old husband, who had been looking after their kids, but he started binge-drinking himself after she'd gone to sleep, reports the .

Their toddler daughter called her grandfather to say that her mum was drunk and she was scared and wanted to go home - and he in turn then contacted the park's security as he was worried for her safety.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told Flintshire Magistrates’ Court in Mold that when security attended they found the caravan in a state which looked as if it had been ransacked.

The pair were said to be asleep in different rooms and there was a lighter and medication on the floor which their two young children could have easily had access to.

It was stressed that the children had not come to any harm.

Magistrates heard social services were now involved with the family and the kids have been taken away temporarily to live with a relative.

The couple, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had split and they had regular access although it was planned that the children be returned to the mum.

The dad, already known to the courts, was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours unpaid work and rehabilitation.

His wife has been bailed and awaits sentencing.
