TWO coastguard helicopters were scrambled to a popular beach with one person pulled from the water and rushed to hospital.
The pair of rescue helicopters descended on Barmouth Beach in Gwynedd, north Wales, just before 6pm this evening after the alarm was raised.
The rescue helicopters were spotted circling around the beach, while an RNLI lifeboat was also scrambled to the scene.
HM Coastguard told The Sun that one person was "recovered from the water" and flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.
Cops have urged people to stay away from the area while the incident is ongoing.
A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "We are currently assisting HM Coastguard with an incident on Barmouth Beach.

"We kindly ask people to keep away from the area while emergency services deal with the incident."
Locals tonight claimed that those involved are "two boys and their dad", reports .
Well-wishers have taken to social media, with one posting on Facebook that they hope the search around Barmouth Beath "has a happy ending".
Another posted that they could see two helicopters, a boat and "so many" police at the scene.

A HM Coastguard spokesman told The Sun: "HM Coastguard coordinated the response to a report of concern for a person in the water at Barmouth beach.
"The alarm was raised at about 5.50pm on 27 May. Two HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopters were sent as well as Coastguard Rescue Teams from Barmouth, Aberdovey and Aberystwyth. The RNLI’s all-weather and inshore lifeboats from Barmouth were also sent.
"A person was recovered from the water and flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor.
"The Welsh Ambulance Service and North Wales Police also attended."
