Tragic crash victim's bike was 'sliced in two' by the impact of the collision in the early hours of the morning

A NEWLYWED was killed in a hit-and-run after her bike was "sliced in two" by a car as she cycled home from work.

Cops were hunting for the driver of a small white car who left the crash victim lying in the road,

Mrs Szucs, who had recently moved to the capital from Hungary, was returning home from a late shift in Edmunton when she was knocked off her bike.

It is the first reported case of a cyclist to die on London's roads this year.

Mrs Szucs married Tamas Mezo, a porter at an exclusive hotel in Knightsbridge, in March 2016.

One of her colleagues told the Evening Standard: "I’ve never met anyone so positive, she always had a smile on her face. Everyone knew her at work, we’re all feeling shocked and numb.

"She had just got married in the summer. They saved up for a honeymoon in Japan. She was only 30.

"I can’t get my head around the fact she was just left in the road. What was the driver thinking leaving the scene?"

Cops have said they believe the car would have been heavily damaged in the collision and would likely have a broken windscreen and dents to its bonnet.

Neighbours have told how they were woken by the sound of the crash in the early hours of yesterday.

John Laoutaris, 66, a retired clothing trader, said: “I heard a bang and a scraping noise. We looked out the window and saw her lying there.

“I would have liked to have gone down myself but I can’t walk very well. It’s very sad. There were a lot of forensics.”

Mrs Szucs' next of kin have been informed and a post mortem is due to take place.

Last year 10 cyclists were killed on London's roads.

Italian prince Filippino Corsini was knocked down by a truck in Knightsbridge.

Lucia Ciccioli was killed while cycling to her new job at a restaurant in London.
