Grandparents deny murdering boy, 2, found with head injuries at their home as mum also denies involvement in horror

Boy was rushed to hospital following horror but sadly couldn't be saved

A COUPLE have denied murdering their toddler grandson after he was found with head injuries at their home.

Ethan Ives Griffiths was rushed to hospital after the horror in Deeside, North Wales, but sadly died from a brain injury.

The two-year-old's grandparents Michael Ives, 46, and Kerry Ives, 45, appeared at Mold Crown Court today.

The couple denied murder, causing or allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a person under 16 years.

Ethan's mum Shannon Ives, 27, pleaded not guilty causing or allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a person under 16.

The charge alleges the cruelty took place from June 8, 2021, until Ethan's death on August 16, 2021.

A trial expected to last up to five weeks was scheduled for November 11.

Shannon Ives was released on bail, while her parents were remanded into custody.

The horror unfolded on August 14, 2021, after little Ethan was found injured at the home on Kingsley Road.

He was taken to Liverpool's Alder Hey hospital but tragically died shortly after.
