School put into lockdown after ‘threats made to pupils’ as cops block all exits

A SCHOOL has been placed into lockdown with a "major police presence" after threats were made to pupils.

Police were called to Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, this afternoon after threats were made on social media.

, says: "The academy is in lockdown - this is a precautionary measure, all students and staff are safe.

"The academy is in lockdown as a result of information received about the end of the school day.

"All students are safe and there is no risk to staff or students. We are actively communicating with the local police and will be in touch as soon as possible.

"Please do not contact your child or turn up at the academy."

A second text message, sent by Thornhill Academy to parents of pupils says: "The Academy is now out of lockdown. Police are on site and are providing a presence at all exit points.

"Students will now be allowed to leave as normal. Thank you for your cooperation and support this afternoon."
