COPS hunting for the body of missing expat Lisa Brown yesterday found buried objects after a major land search near her home in Spain.
A team of 20 Civil Guard officers and diggers took part in the operation close where the mum lived in the Costa Del Sol.
Detectives confirmed the new search was sparked by fresh information and revealed the items found were passed on to forensic experts.
Lisa, 33, from Alexandria, Dunbartonshire, vanished from the home she shared with lover Simon Corner in Guadiaro in November 2015.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard, which is leading the probe, said: “The Civil Guard has renewed the search for Lisa Brown.
“More than 20 Civil Guard officers along with town hall workers with excavating machines participated in the operation.
“During the new search carried out this morning, objects and remnants have been found that have been sent to our Criminalistic Service for further analysis.”
A source added: “The operation will now be suspended while the objects are looked at to see if they have any bearing on this case.”
Yacht salesman Corner, 35, was arrested in Denmark and is awaiting trial in a Spanish jail.
Another Brit has been identified as a “main suspect” alongside Corner and four other people arrested who are currently on bail.
It was previously feared Lisa may have been murdered and her body dumped at sea but investigators refused to rule out the possibility she was buried on land.
Last September, forensic officers revealed a violent incident took place at Lisa’s property between her and Corner.
Lisa's brother Craig Douglas, 46, said the new search was “encouraging”.
He added: “They have kept us up to date with as much information as possible.
“There are some things that they can’t tell us and we appreciate that.
“It is encouraging that things are still ongoing and the people who are investigating are being relentless.
“They will not let this go just like we as a family won’t either.
“The ultimate aim is to get answers and make sure the people responsible get their time.
“We are optimistic that will happen.”
