Fiancé of Tunisia terror attack victim told her he loved her before trying in vain to save her with CPR
THE fiancé of a Tunisia terror victim told her he loved her before trying in vain to save her life, an inquest heard yesterday.
Carly Lovett, 24, of Gainsborough, Lincs, was one of 38 people killed by Islamic extremist Seifeddine Rezgui, who opened fire at the five star Riu Imperial Marhaba Hotel in Tunisia in June 2015.
Fiancé Liam Moore said he saw her surrounded by blood after an "explosion" when they were hiding from the gunmen.
Moore told the inquest he and fashion blogger Lovett ran from the hotel pool after hearing gunshots.
They comforted each other in an empty room in the hotel before hearing a "massive bang".
Moore said: "As the smoke cleared, I immediately started looking for Carly, and I could see that she was lying on her front in the doorway of one of the offices."
She died despite his efforts at CPR, the hearing was told.
The inquest also heard from the wife of former paratrooper John Stollery, who was gunned down in the attack.
Cheryl Stollery said she and husband John, 58, had gone for a swim leaving their son Matthew on the fourth floor of the hotel.
When they heard the gunshots, they began to run towards the other side of the hotel. Mrs Stollery said she saw a gunman clad all in black pass her.
She said: “I turned round thinking John was still immediately behind me and said ‘John, he is there, he has got a gun’.
“The gunman went past me.
“I expected him (John) to be at the side of me or just behind me.
“And when I turned around John was on the floor.
