A TEENAGE girl and boy have been charged with murder after a "caring" dad was stabbed to death.

Gary Belfield, who "never looked for trouble", was tragically knifed in a terrifying attack on Saturday.

The 40-year-old was discovered at an address on Elliott Drive, Felling, Gateshead, following the horror.

Despite medics' best efforts, Gary was pronounced dead at the scene.

A shocking eight arrests were made by Northumbria Police in connection with the doting dad's death at the time.

A boy, 17, was charged with attempted murder and has been remanded in custody.

Cops have now charged another boy, also 17, and a girl, 15, with Gary's murder.

The pair will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today.

Two males and three females, aged between 21 and 51, remain on police bail while further enquiries are carried out.

On Wednesday, Gary's family paid tribute to him following their horrific loss.

They said: "He was a caring friendly person who was popular in his hometown. He never looked for or got into trouble.

"As a family we are shocked and devastated at what has happened.

"We are trying to process the events of the last four days and grieve our loss."

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Jenkins asked the public to avoid speculation during the investigation.

She said: "First and foremost, our thoughts remain with Gary’s family and loved ones as they grieve following this unspeakable tragedy.

"Our officers continue to support them in any way we can, and we would ask the public to avoid speculation both in the community and online which could jeopardise the ongoing proceedings."
