THE Brexit bill has passed its first House of Commons hurdle with an overwhelming majority after 498 MPs voted to pass it tonight.

But 114 voted to block the Article 50 legislation, which will now pass to the next stage in the Parliamentary process.

Those who voted against included 47 Labour MPs, 50 from SNP, 7 Liberal Democrats, 3 from the SDLP, the 1 Green Party MP, 2 from Plaid Cymru, 3 independent MPs, and just 1 Conservative - Ken Clarke.

The MPs who voted for the bill were 319 Tories, 167 Labour MPs, 8 from the DUP, 2 UUP, 1 Ukip and 1 independent MP.
