Cops give major update on ‘breakthrough’ in headless human torso probe after two men arrested for ‘murder’
COPS have launched more search sites amid a breakthrough after a headless human torso was found wrapped in plastic.
Across the weekend detectives and specialist officers have opened four scenes in place after the grim discovery was made in Kersal Wetlands, Salford earlier this month.
The victim, who police say is a man in his 40s, was brutally dismembered and dumped the nature reserve.
His body was tragically uncovered in the Kersal Dale wooded area on April 4 - with forensics combing the area.
Now more teams are currently set up in Worsley Road, Winton, Blackleach Reservoir in Salford, Linneyshaw Colliery Wood also in Salford and Mitchell Street in Bury.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of Greater Manchester Police Serious Crime Division said: “As we close the net further on this investigation and uncover more intelligence, I want to reassure our communities we are doing everything in our power to ensure we obtain every available bit of available evidence.

“Our investigation so far has been a far-reaching and painstaking process, trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV alongside recording several accounts from the public around the circumstances.
“The four scenes in place are to make sure we investigate thoroughly and continue with our good progress and remain committed on keeping you updated as and when we make further developments."
Cops are still urging anyone with information to come forward.

ARRESTS
It comes after two men were arrested on suspicion of murder.
After launching a murder probe, Greater Manchester Police stormed a bus in the city, where they arrested a man, 42, on suspicion of murder.
Shortly after, officers raided a property on Worsley Road where another man, 68, was also arrested on suspicion of murder.
Both men are known to each other, police say.
The victim has still not been able to be identified.
Police say he is white, believed to be European, and most likely had blonde or light brown hair with blue eyes.
