‘Stop obsessing over my house and get a grip’, Angela Rayner says as she’s mocked at PMQs over police probe

The deputy opposition leader also called Rishi Sunak a "pint sized loser"

EMBATTLED Angela Rayner today demanded Tory MPs "stop obsessing" over her two homes scandal as she was mocked at PMQs.

Fiery Ms Rayner clashed with Oliver Dowden in the Commons as she accused the deputy PM of being "desperate to talk about my living arrangements".

She said: "I know this party opposite is desperate to talk about my living arrangements, but the public want to know what this Government is going to do about theirs.

"Now instead of obsessing over my house, when will he get a grip and show the same obsession with ending no fault evictions."

With Rishi Sunak away on a Berlin visit, his number two Mr Dowden hit back:  "To begin with it, is a pleasure to have another exchange with in this House, our fifth in 12 months, anymore of these and she'll be claiming it as her principal residence."

Ms Rayner is battling for her political life over claims she broke the law over her ex council house.

Manchester cops are probing claims she failed to pay enough tax when she sold her Stockport home, and was registered at the wrong address.

She strongly denies the claims.

Steering the clash away from her personal circumstances, Ms Rayner slammed ministers for watering down the Renters' Reform Bill, which is back in the Commons this evening.

The deputy opposition chief said: "He clearly thought he could spend all week obsessing over my living arrangements and didn't even bother to read-up on his own Government's Bill this afternoon.

"This week the Housing Minister said there is no solid date for banning no fault evictions, the Housing Secretary (Michael Gove) now says it won't happen before an election, so if he can give us a date, can he name it now?"

Ms Rayner also took aim at Mr Sunak, calling him a "pint sized loser" who cannot live up to the personality of Boris Johnson.

She said: "When he stabbed Boris in the back to get his mate in No10 that he was ditching their biggest election winner for a pint-sized loser?"
