'HEARTBREAKING EXPERIENCE'

Mum’s horror as daughter, 3, is thrown into air by hit-and-run driver who said ‘sorry’ and sped off

Hayley Lines, 23, from Blackpool, Lancs, said her little girl followed the lollipop man out because she thought it was safe

A MUM has told of her horror as she watched her three-year-old daughter fly through the air after being struck by a car.

Hayley Lines, 23, from Blackpool, Lancs, and her little girl, Lilly, were crossing the road outside a primary school with the help of a lollipop man when the shocking incident happened.

The horrifying impact caused Lilly to fly across the road like a ragdoll – leaving her with head injuries and bleeding hands.

But in a shocking twist, Hayley said the driver didn’t even stop, simply saying “sorry” before speeding away.

After the motorist fled the scene, police traced the car to an address and a 32-year-old man later handed himself in.

Cops said he is cooperating with an ongoing investigation.

Hayley said: "Lilly knows when the lollipop man goes out and lifts his stick it's safe to cross, so she went out with me right behind her.

"Suddenly a blue BMW came out of nowhere and slammed into her, sending her flying.

"I was screaming hysterically and holding her.

"The driver just poked his head out of the window, said ‘sorry’ and drove off.

"It was the most traumatic, heartbreaking experience I've ever had in my entire life. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

"It's a parent's worst nightmare. She just laid there screaming and screaming."

"I just want him to be punished for what he did to my little girl. I hope he feels guilty all his life."

The traumatised mum said she is now ";paranoid" Lilly’s safety, along with that of her older son Alfie, five.

"I've never been one of those over-protective mums who panic at the slightest thing.

"But now I just want to wrap her in cotton wool and bubble wrap and never let her go.
