Teachers assaulted by violent students paid more than £400K in compensation last year

The National Union of Teachers blame 'exam factories' culture on causing mental health issues among young people

TEACHERS hurt by violent pupils were handed more than £400,000 in compensation last year.

The survey of councils uncovered 28 payouts, with real costs thought to be at least £1million after legal fees are added.

One teacher received £83,000 after a special needs student threw objects in Haringey, North London.

The authority also paid £10,000 after a primary school attack.
