Kind-hearted policeman blags KFC meals and Tesco groceries for homeless men living under M62 bridge
PC Ockwell arranged hot meals for the men after their mobile home became 'uninhabitable' and they had to beg for food
TWO homeless men forced to beg for food and drink were left in shock when a kind-hearted policeman arranged free meals for them.
The men, from Manchester and Kent, were left stranded under a motorway service station bridge after the vehicle towing their caravan broke down, and their “decrepit” mobile home became uninhabitable.
The homeless pair, who are still sleeping rough mere metres from the M62, were forced to beg for food in the doorway of the services for a number of days before PC Stu Ockwell came to their rescue.
After visiting the services on Sunday, the kind cop arranged for Tesco and KFC to donate meals to the hungry men.
The selfless cop has also organised an appointment with Rochdale Council to help them find a “permanent” home off the streets.

This isn’t the first time PC Ockwell has helped the needy – according to , the cop visited a 95-year-old couple’s house in November 2015 after they called in to say they were “lonely”.
Speaking on his latest act of kindness, the generous cop said the homeless men are victims of a “catalogue of unfortunate events”.
He told Manchester Evening News: “The homeless men have been up here for quite a long time in a caravan which has ended up becoming decrepit, so they can’t stay in it and are now living under a motorway bridge.
“I contacted the Tesco in Middleton and spoke to the manager and he donated a bag of shopping with sandwiches and drinks. I then went to the KFC and the staff gave me two hot meals.
“There are generous people out there that are helping them - they are very grateful for everything that comes their way.”
PC Ockwell said the men are due to meet with housing authorities later this week.
