A BOY has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on his way to school this morning.
The youngster, 13, was seriously injured after the smash in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Emergency services were raced to the road, near a branch of Asda, around 8.20am.
Footage of the scene showed emergency services scattered across the road with an air ambulance nearby.
West Yorkshire Police is now probing the smash.
The force said: "Police received a report of a collision on Asdale Road, Wakefield, at 8:26am this morning involving a car and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a teenage boy, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"The road is currently closed while enquiries continue at the scene."
Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "An ambulance and air ambulance were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to hospital by road."
