A DAD was left mortified when an uncomfortable bump in his trainer turned out to be a dead mouse — which had been there for two months.
Stephen Pattison, 50, kept flattening out a kink in the lining which was irritating him whenever he wore the shoe.
But he decided to pull out the sole and properly investigate when his right sock started to whiff — and was horrified to see a squished rodent.
Stephen, who blames the family’s cat, explained: “I thought it was the cardboard in the trainer pushing up or even the gel. It was squidgy. I kept pushing it down hoping it would sort itself out.
“But my right sock kept smelling of ammonia every time I was wearing the trainers so I decided to have a look.
“I took the sole out and it looked fine until I turned it over and saw the mouse.

Their five-year-old pet, Cinder, regularly brings mice in to play with — and this one is likely to have taken refuge inside his trainer.
Stephen, a cleaner from Thirsk, North Yorks, added: “They’re always alive and she spends a while chasing them around the house whilst I try and grab it.
