His dad Neil Speakman appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court today.

The 38-year-old pleaded not guilty to gross negligence manslaughter and will stand trial on January 14.

Speakman is accused of failing to ensure as a self-employed person the health and safety of Albie.

He was bailed to next appear at the same court on December 2.

An inquest heard previously how little Albie died from a head injury after the horror at his dad's farm.

The boy's family had flagged down an ambulance while driving him to hospital but he died at the roadside.

Albie's mum Leah previously paid tribute to her son, describing him as a "little sunshine boy" who "loved to play".

She said: "Albie was an incredibly loving, affectionate and caring boy who just wanted everyone to be happy.

"He was so sensitive and wanted everyone to be ok, especially the people that he loved.

"I will miss absolutely everything about Albie, his voice, his smile, the smell of his skin and the feel of his little hands on my face when he would say, 'I love you mummy girl'.

"I'll especially miss going on adventures with Albie, anywhere and everywhere we could have fun; nothing will ever fill the hole that he has left in our hearts, we are broken beyond repair."
