Dad of missing actor who starred in Game of Thrones asks public to ‘keep a look out’ for his son as search continues
Tyrone Tuohy recently featured as an extra in the medieval fantasy TV series Game of Thrones
THE father of a man feared lost at sea has thanked search teams for their efforts and has appealed to anyone living by the sea to “keep a look out.”
Tyrone Tuohy, an accomplished actor and talented musician, featured as an extra in the medieval fantasy TV series Game of Thrones.
The 27-year-old was last seen on Sunday, January 8 but was reported missing when he didn’t return home that evening.
A major search was launched the following day after Gardaí, who had been searching for Tyrone, located a car at the Cliffs of Moher.
Irish Coast Guard volunteers from nearby Doolin commenced a search that evening and were joined by the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter.
Over the next 12 days, members of the Coast Guard from Killaloe and Kilkee joined the search while Civil Defence volunteers from five countries also assisted.
Civil Defence teams from Clare, Dublin, Cork, Laois, Donegal and Galway deployed drone technology and were able to cover large areas of coastline and surrounding farmland.
Dozens of locals and friends of the missing man had also assisted in the search but had to be warned to stand down for safety reasons when weather conditions deteriorated for a few days.
The Coast Guard was also unable to launch their boats for several days because of sea conditions.
In a moving Facebook post titled ‘Lost at Sea’, Tyrone’s father Conor said: "It is with great sadness I tell you that my son Tyrone is missing since Sunday January 8th 2017, last seen at the Cliffs of Moher. Tyrone will be sadly missed by his father, sister, brothers, family and friends."
