Tragedy as girl, 15, plunges to her death on Sheffield street hours after being reported missing
A 15-YEAR-OLD girl has died on the street after falling from a height - leaving her family devastated.
Six police cars and an air ambulance scrambled to an address in Sheffield at around 7.45pm on Wednesday.
The girl was pronounced a short time later despite the best efforts of cops and paramedics.
She had been reported missing the day before her death and had returned home.
Now South Yorkshire Police has now "automatically" referred itself to the IOPC watchdog over the incident.
The force said: "Her family has been informed and is being supported by our officers."

A spokesperson added: "We would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
"A mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior police contact."
The IOPC said: "We have received a mandatory referral from South Yorkshire Police following the death of a 15-year-old girl in Sheffield.
"This relates to the fact she was reported missing to police the day before her death, before returning home.
"We will assess the available information to determine whether an investigation is required and, if so, who should carry this out.
"Our thoughts are with the girl’s family and loved ones, as well as all those affected by her death."
