Iceland mocked for stocking chocolate Easter eggs directly above its Slimming World range of meals

PEOPLE attempting to stick to new year diets found themselves tested after an Iceland displayed Easter eggs over their Slimming World range.

The store in Portishead, Bristol, stocks a range of meals to help people slim down and “stay on track without any stress”.

One mum said it was difficult enough to diet without the temptations being in front of shoppers

However these items were spotted directly underneath chocolate treats ahead of Easter.

Some shoppers were amused as they thought Iceland was putting it’s members to the test.

But Slimming World member and Portishead mum-of-three Claire Roberts : “It’s definitely thoughtless.

“It’s hard when you are dieting to get round the shops resisting all the cheap goodies put out to tempt you as it is, but especially when you go in to get your Slimming World food and in your eyeline is chocolate.

“When you are trying to lose weight it is fragile willpower and determination that keeps you going, and things like this really challenge it.”

A spokesperson for Slimming World said members could still enjoy some treats like chocolate while on the meal plan, instead of banning them completely.

A spokesperson for Iceland said shelf space was limited in some stores and that seasonal items needed to be easy to find.

They added: “We take all of our customers’ feedback very seriously.

“Iceland’s objective is to offer all of our customers a wide range of products and deliver the best choice possible.”

At the end of last year shoppers lashed out at supermarkets for stocking Easter products more 100 days away from the holiday.

Shoppers still in the festive mindset were surprised to find the chocolate eggs on display in many supermarkets around the country just days after Christmas.

People took to social media to express their shock at finding the countdown has already begun to Easter, which is not until April 16, 2017.

Gary Souter wrote on Twitter: “It’s not even new year yet and I’ve just seen #Easter chocolate in @asda WTF??”
