Woman, 20, appears in court charged over deaths of two people in horror ‘drug-driving’ crash
A WOMAN has appeared in court charged over the deaths of two people in a horror crash.
Tony Mist and his passenger, Thelma Huse, both 69, were killed when their Fiat 500 collided with a Mercedes Citan van in Somerset.
Jessica Higgs, 20, was allegedly over the limit for benzoylecgonine - a breakdown product of cocaine - at the time of the horror.
She appeared at Yeovil Magistrates' Court today charged with two counts of causing death by driving without due care while over the limit for a specific controlled drug.
Higgs spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing.
She was given unconditional bail to next appear at Taunton Crown Court sitting at North Somerset Magistrates Court on May 7.

Police were scrambled to the A303 on May 15 last year following the crash.
Tony was tragically declared dead at the scene, while Thelma was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
She sadly could not be saved and passed away shortly after.
