Wez told the paper: "Me and my friend approached the security guard and asked what he was doing.

"He turned round to me and said Greater Manchester Police said they told them if the sleeping bags are left unattended they could bin them.

"I said 'that's not true'."

When Wez claims he asked the man to stop he was told: "If you obstruct me, I will call the police."

An M&S spokesman claimed the man pictured does not work for the store.

And when Wez went into the shop and asked to speak to the manager he was allegedly told there was "no security guard working that days and the matter was "out of his hands".

The 26-year-old added: "I then went to the homeless man and woman the sleeping bags belong to in order to tell them what had happened so they could retrieve them from the bin.

"They could have frozen to death. I find it disgusting that anyone could do that as my friend Liam has been on the streets and this brought back bad memories."
