Reform UK tried to poach me before Lee Anderson defected – but I said no because it was a duff deal

Senior MP reveals all about the Reform Party's plot to get Tory MPs to defect

Weeks before Lee Anderson, Reform tried to tempt me, but I know a duff deal when I see it.

The text came from a senior member of Reform. Might I be interested in joining?

But joining what? A rag tag group with no hope of governing or leading?

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the frustration of Sun on Sunday readers.

Covid and the energy price hike have meant that it has been a difficult few years. We’ve been pushed off course. But we need to protect folks, and that’s what we did.

But the economy is turning a corner.

Wages are rising faster than the cost of living.

Inflation is down, and interest and mortgages rates will be following.

The migration crisis wasn’t gripped, but it is being now.

We are getting to grips too with political correctness - the daftness of so-called 'woke ideology’.

But let’s be clear.

Anyone voting for Reform will let in Labour, and they will get the opposite of what they want.

They will get a Labour Party ashamed of our history, which falsely equates the British Empire with slavery, rather than its abolition.

Reform's Lee Anderson bottles The Sun’s politics show... is he interested in getting your vote?

They will get high tax, high migration party led by a left-wing lawyer.

I said no to Reform because I believe in loyalty.

I believed in loyalty when I served in the British Army and I believe it when I serve my constituents on the Isle of Wight, and I believe in it when I am supporting Rishi Sunak.

I don’t cut and run and neither should we.

This summer, the economy will continue to strengthen, NHS waiting will continue to fall - despite the political strikes of junior doctors - and the Rwanda flights will start to take off.

That will be massive deterrent to illegal migrants coming here.

The plan is working.

Come the election, there will be a clear choice.

Stick with Rishi and stick with the plan, or back to square one.

A vote for anyone else apart from the Conservatives will be a vote to let in Labour.

So my answer to Reform should be the same as anyone else’s.

No thanks. It’s a duff deal.
