When is iOS 10.3 released in the UK? Features, release date, Find My iPhone, Siri and apps

APPLE has released a new version of the operating system which powers iPhones and iPads.

The tech giant has begun a beta test of iOS 10.3, with developers and other insiders trying out the software so bugs can be ironed out before its general release.

This means the operating system will be probably be rolled out to ordinary Apple fans in March or April.

Some of the features introduced in iOS 10.3 seem tailor made for a British audience.

Sports lovers will be able to use voice commands to ask Siri to tell them the cricket scores.

The Maps app has also been beefed up so it can tell you the weather if you press down on the screen using the gadget's Force Touch feature.

Apple has also devised a nifty app called "Find My Airpods", which will automatically locate the clever wireless earphones it released just before Christmas.

This function can be found within the Find My iPhone app, which has helped countless people relocate their expensive gadget after it became wedged down the back of a sofa or left in the back of a taxi.

"It keeps track of the last known location where AirPods were connected to an iOS device over Bluetooth, making a misplaced AirPod easier to find," Apple expert Juli Clover

"It also allows users to play a sound to locate a lost AirPod. It does not work when the AirPods are in the case and its functionality is somewhat limited because AirPods have no connection of their own."

The operating system will also allow users to control the files being kept in iCloud, which is Apple's online cloud storage system, and take control of what information their phone sends to companies which make the apps on their iPhone.

Experts believe the beta testing process will take about two or three months.

Apple automatically informs users when an update is available, before allowing them to easily download the software.

Yesterday, Apple iPhone owners have been urged to download a iOS update or expose themselves to the risk of a “devastating” hack attack.

The tech giant’s security bods have discovered a dozen vulnerabilities in the operating system which powers iPhones and iPads, but quickly released new software to plug the security holes with the name iOS 10.2.1.
