Cyclist dies after collision with car as man, 22, arrested over ‘dangerous driving’
The crash happened near Newmarket's National Stud and the famous racecourse
A MAN has been arrested over the death of a cyclist near Newmarket's famous National Stud and racecourse.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, died at the site of the crash this morning.
A 22-year-old man from Newmarket, Suffolk, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He is currently at Bury St Edmonds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Police were called at 6.35am after the cyclist and grey BMW 525 collided on the A1304 Barbara Stradbroke Avenue.

That road is still closed between the roundabout junction and Hamilton Road while the investigation takes place.
There is no access to the west side of Newmarket and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Police are appealing for witness to the crash, or for anyone who many have seen the car or cyclist prior to it.
Any information should be passed on to the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101 quoting CAD 36 of January 24.
Yesterday a child died after two cars and a lorry were involved in a crash during “horrendous driving conditions”.
The 11-year-old girl, a passenger in one of the cars, suffered serious injuries which proved fatal, police confirmed.
