DRAMATIC footage shows a Trump supporter being attacked by protesters after putting out a fire as a brawl breaks out at a rally against the new president.

The video shows a man in a red cap emblazoned with the slogan "Make America Great Again" using a fire extinguisher to put out what appears to be a bin set ablaze by anti-Trump protesters.

"This is not how you say 'I don't like how things turned out'", he tells campaigners surrounding the blaze.

"This isn't how we do it, it's not right - it doesn't need to be like this."

Shouts of  "We can start it back up again!" and "It's a peaceful protest" can be heard, while one campaigner is seen holding a placard saying "Stop this war on black America".

But suddenly two thugs wearing all black run up behind the Trump supporter and violently rip off his red hat.

Another man takes chase, crying "give that hat back now!", but he is grabbed round the neck and pulled to the ground.

Cries of "get off him!" and "let him go!" are heard as the two protesters appear to sit on him to stop him getting away, before he is finally helped to his feet.

The attackers - one wearing a red scarf covering his face - then embrace before running off into the crowds at the rally in Washington DC, just yards from the White House.

Another protester shouts: "We're supposed to be peaceful, guys."

Tensions have reached breaking point after Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States on Friday.

Protests have been sparked across the world, including in Alberta, Canada, where a Trump opponent was filmed punching a female reporter’s camera at a Women’s March after being asked why he had taken to the street.

And in London, a brawl broke out - believed to be between a Trump supporter and opponent - amid protests along Oxford Circus on Friday.
