According to the Met Office the Easter weekend is "likely" to be "unsettled" with rain or showers hitting most regions at different times.

But they also said that there could be some "drier and brighter spells".

The most affected by rainfall will be in southern and western areas, and later on in the weekend residents in the north will see drier hours and "increased" amounts of sunshine.

A spokesman for the Met Office, said: "Compared to the coming week, the Easter weekend is likely to be a little warmer.

"Into the following week, continued unsettled or changeable weather remains the most likely outcome.

"All areas are likely to see further rain or showers at times, with some drier spells in between, but wet weather will tend to favour the south whilst northern parts remain a bit drier on average."

Areas including Pewsey, Salisbury, Westminster, Devizes and Swindn will be hit the hardest with rain, as well as Dursley.

Overall the weather will be a mixed bag, temperatures are slowly rising and it's expected that will continue into next week.

There is a very slim chance of snow, and if there is it mostly be in parts of Scotland, which is fairly usual around this time of year.

Meteorologist Ben Snell, said: "As we get to Good Friday we are likely to see temperatures rise and feel a little less cold.

UK weather: Exact time and location snow is set to fall as Brits brace for heavy wind & rain... but sun is on the way

"But Good Friday and Saturday will be a continuation of this week, with bouts of rain mixed with dryer periods."

Friday looks like the worst day for frequent showers across southern and northern parts of the county, but there could well be sunshine interspersed in the day.

On Saturday showers should start to happen less and generally it will feel warmer.

Ben continued: "It should feel fairly pleasant, in comparison to today it won't feel too bad.

"Hints of Sunday and Monday look like the theme will continue, a mix of sunshine and showers.

"At the moment the four day weekend will be a typical spring mix of rain, showers and sunny spells, but the main takeaway point is that temperature trends are rising.

"Any risk of snow will be very small, and that will generally be focussed across higher points of Scotland.

"At some point over the weekend we're hoping to see some dryer spells so we can get out and about."
