It was the focus of an investigation into six deaths at HMP Parc in Bridgend, Wales.

Adrian Usher, the Prison and Probation Ombudsman, found four of the deaths were drug-related.

Two of the dead were known to have used spice.

Mr Usher is urging prisoners to throw away their supplies, saying: “This is a dangerous drug and we do not want to see any more unnecessary deaths occur.”

The G4S-run category B jail is said to hold 300 more inmates than its 1,500 capacity.

An inspection in 2022 raised concerns about drug use and violence, campaigners say.

Jason Hussey and John Rose and Christopher Stokes were among the six inmates who have died since February 27.

Police have confirmed two of the six deaths were not suspicious, while early tests suggest nitazenesartificial opioids — were linked to the others and spice to two.
